Sergio Wagner

He was born in the town of Azul, Province of Buenos Aires, in 1988. At the age of 12 he began his music studies at the Municipal School of the city. He soon began his first professional experiences in various local groups and joined the Symphony Orchestra and Municipal Band of Olavarr?a.

During 2003 it began to develop in the jazz language, forming the young study group "Quatro Quartos" with which it makes presentations in several localities of the province. Then in 2006 he moved to Buenos Aires, and in 2009 he graduated from the Jazz Technician at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory.

In his instrument has formed with artists like Richard Nant, Enrique Norris, Juan Cruz de Urquiza and Alex Sipiagin. He was nominated for Premios Clarín Espectáculos 2008 and 2009 as "Young artist" in the Jazz category. He has performed in various groups of artists such as: Mariano Otero, Ernesto Jodos, Ramiro Flores, Hernán Merlo, Boris Big Band, among others; he plays with international artists like Barry Altschul, Andrew D’Angelo, Anders Christensen, Pierre Bertrand, and many others. He had collaborations as a session with: Fito Páez, Illya Kuryaki, Vicentico, Lisandro Aristimuño, Tan Bionica, among others.

Among his recordings are two studio albums with the group Brote, the first "Brote" was released in 2008, and the second "La urgencia de lo incierto" in 2011. In 2013 the label “RivoRecords” edited "Backstage Sally" where – Along with Alan Zimmerman – leads the group "Hard bop Sextet" honoring the main artists of the Hard Bop era. After being summoned for numerous recordings of different national artists, he decides to develop and compose his music.

Towards the end of 2015 he recorded in studio his first solo album "Edén" of original compositions that is published in 2017. This album wins a prize in the category "Contemporary Composition" of the National Arts Fund obtaining an important subsidy. He currently participates in groups such as Luis Natch, Mariano Otero, Alan Zimmerman, Patricio Carpossi, Leonel Cejas, among others. In 2017 he has been selected to perform the international ensemble FocusYear 2017/18 in "Musik Akademie" of Basel, Switzerland.
