Danny Ziemann

Danny Ziemann is a bassist, educator, and composer living in Rochester, NY. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music with BM in Music Education and Jazz Bass Performance, Danny has been freelancing regularly since the age of 16.

He tours frequently and can be heard performing at festivals and venues throughout the US, Europe, and Asia, sharing the stage with musicians including Bill Dobbins, Josh Groban, Delfeayo Marsalis, Don Menza, Bobby Militello, Jumaane Smith, Bob Sneider, and Gordon Webster.

As the Instructor of Jazz Bass at the Eastman Community Music School and at SUNY Oswego, Danny balances performing with a full-time teaching schedule. His two jazz bass method books, entitled The Low Down Vol. 1 &2, have been met with positive support in the bass community. He is an active clinician at universities, high schools, and conferences held both in the US and abroad. He has placed 2nd in the International Society of Bassists (ISB) 2015 Jazz Bass Competition, was a semi-finalist in the 2016 BassEurope Jazz Bass Competition, and will compete again in the 2017 ISB Competition. In addition to performing and teaching, he is a submissions reviewer for the ISB magazine Bass World, and a blog writer for D’Addario’s blog Behind the Bridge. Danny is currently pursuing a MM in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music.
