Wilfried Wilde is a French guitarist and composer. At the age of 10 he began classical guitar studies at the Landes Conservatory (France) and at the age of 18 he simultaneously completed the DEM both in classical and jazz guitar under the tutelage of trumpeter Jacky Berecochea.
At the age of 22, he graduated from the conservatory of the Basque Country MUSIKENE in jazz guitar, where he had the opportunity to study with great musicians such as Jorge Rossy, Perico Sambeat or Guillermo Klein, among others, and meet numerous young musicians from all over Spain. He was the winner of the Keep An Eye Jazz Award, a European soloist competition that takes place in Amsterdam, and a finalist in several prestigious competitions such as the Castellón Jazz Competition, Palma Jazz Comercial, Heineken Jazz Festival or the Getxo International Festival (2016).
Since 2012, he has been working as a freelance musician in many facets of the music sector: teaching, private events, festivals (Las Palmas, San Sebastian, Lugo, Cangas, Getxo, Moaña, Nigrán, ...), arranger, composer (animation, video games). His stay in Spain, and mainly in Galicia, has allowed him to collaborate on very varied projects ranging from the most traditional jazz (Iago Fernández Quartet, Dani Cano Quintet, Tana Santana Project, Joan Saldaña Quintet) to fusion with Galician music (Azul de Bueu) or with rock (Xan Campos ESD, Loiros, Larchey Zore Quartet).
In 2015 he formed his first band as leader, the Wilfried Wilde Quintet, with which he recorded the album "Oscilenscope" (Fresh Sound New Talent, 2015). In 2019, he begins to collaborate with the musicians Iago Fernández and Zé Pedro Coelho in a co-led trio called WIZ, resulting in the recording of the self-titled album "WIZ" (Carimbo/Porta-jazz, 2021).
